A new era: Series production

In 2018 a completely new era began for STI and CST: Series production of space hardware.
The entry into series production was possible for SpaceTech because Airbus OneWeb Satellites (AOS) awarded STI a contract for the delivery of 1800 Solar Array Deployment Mechanisms (SADM).
STI had to ramp up fast and to learn a lot, e.g. about statistical process control and series manufacturing methods. 

In 2021 SpaceTech was awarded a contract for 340 solar panels to be delivered at a rate of 40 per month. This was another enormous step, building a deployment mechanism in series is one thing but building a solar panel in series is significantly more challenging. 

In parallel, STI was awarded a contract for the delivery of 80 solar panels to York Space Systems at a rate of 12 per month. This was now a double challenge. 

But we did it! Thanks to the automated production line, developed for cell laydown at STI and for the substrate panel manufacturing at CST. This was the foundation of SpaceTech's position in this market today.
