Successful launch of ESA’s Biomass satellite

SpaceTech is proud, being part in the Biomass project. We were selected to design and manufacture Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), such as for the Biomass instrument bench and instrument EQM structure.

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Earth Explorer Biomass satellite was successfully launched from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana this morning by Arianespace on board of a Vega C launcher into Sun-Synchronous Orbit at an altitude of around 666 km.

Biomass mission goal

Biomass will spend five years making detailed observations and witnessing at least eight growth cycles in the world’s forests. The observations from this new mission will lead to better insight into the rates of habitat loss, allowing us to track the effect this may have on biodiversity in the forest environment.

SpaceTech‘s role in Biomass

SpaceTech is proud, being part in the Biomass project. We were selected to design and manufacture Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE), such as for the Biomass instrument bench and instrument EQM structure. The Biomass satellite has been manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space.
