SpaceTech invests in Growth and Future Technologies with new CSTI Campus in Immenstaad

With the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new CSTI building complex, SpaceTech and CarboSpaceTech have launched a major investment project for the future of their Immenstaad site. Our new facilities will create the capacity needed for continued growth in Solar arrays, photonic instruments and advanced composite structures while further strengthening the Lake Constance region as a high-tech and aerospace hub.

The ceremony, held on September 23, 2026, welcomed numerous guests from politics, industry, and the space sector. Among the distinguished attendees were Minister-President Cem Özdemir, DLR General Director Walther Pelzer, and Immenstaad Mayor Johannes Henne.

In his remarks, Minister-President Cem Özdemir highlighted Baden-Württemberg’s strength as one of Germany’s leading aerospace locations and emphasized the role of innovative companies in securing the state’s future. Referring to SpaceTech’s highly precise work, its solar array production and its recent contract for the laser system for ESA’s LISA mission, he said: “What you are doing here in Immenstaad is high tech at its finest. SpaceTech shows what is possible here in our state.” He also underlined the state government’s commitment to strengthening key technologies, research networks, STEM education, skilled immigration, infrastructure and more efficient regulation. (Quote translated from German.)

The new campus is being built on a 13,000-square-meter site in the Steigwiesen II industrial area. The project comprises three interconnected buildings, providing approximately 18,000 square meters of usable floor space. The facilities will house state-of-the-art production and assembly areas for carbon-fiber composite components, highly precise optical instruments, as well as laboratories, testing facilities, warehouses, and office space. Additional amenities include social areas, a company cafeteria, and modern meeting and presentation facilities for customers and partners.

The expansion is necessary as our recently completed buildings are close to reach full occupancy. At the same time, demand for the company’s products and technologies continues to grow. Additional capacity is particularly required for solar arrays, photonic instruments, and scientific space missions. The new campus will also provide space for the integration of the recently incorporated Best Composites operations.

“With the new CSTI campus, we are making a targeted investment in the future of our Immenstaad site. The expansion creates room for growth, modern manufacturing processes, and the continued development of our space technology expertise,” said Wolfgang Pitz, CEO of SpaceTech.

Sustainability is a key element of the project. The new facilities will feature a photovoltaic system, a geothermal heat pump supported by 94 geothermal probes, green roofs, and thermally activated concrete structures for energy-efficient heating and cooling. In addition, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles will be provided.

Today, SpaceTech GmbH and CarboSpaceTech GmbH employ around 250 people. The new campus is designed to accommodate office area for approximately 200 additional employees, creating the foundation for the companies’ continued growth over the coming years.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
